Installing the LeMans gas cap!

One of the distinctive characteristics of the Shelby Cobra is its gas cap. It is a beautiful piece of equipment that serves a key function.

Here are all the pieces:

Here is the indentation in the body where the cap will go:

I bored four holes in the gas cap bracket as shown.

I cut this hole in the center of the indentation, smaller than the full diameter.

I also drilled four holes into this piece which fits below the body.

Here is the view underneath the indentation:

Here is the bracket connected to the fuel tank inlet. Note the vent return line hose as well.

Here is the top view before screwing on the cap assembly:

The finished product: cap in the closed position….

…and in the open position. Excellent!
